Overview
I'm a classically trained violinist, and I've played the violin for 20 years! I have a degree in music and extensive experience in providing music for events, and I greatly enjoy sharing music with others.
I can play any kind of music you'd like -- classical, covers, Bollywood, jazz, you name it! Additionally, depending on your preference, I can perform solo or with piano. I'm more than happy to take music requests and give recommendations, and I'm very detail-oriented, so you'll feel secure that everything is taken care of. Finally, I also have a large performance wardrobe, so I will always be able to match the theme of your event.
Thank you for your time!

About
Dana Wenzel is a violinist based in Vancouver, and she is an active performer and teacher. She is primarily a classical musician, but has experience playing jazz, Bollywood, Celtic fiddle, & more.
Dana received her Bachelor of Music from the University of Victoria, where she studied under Ann Elliott-Goldschmid and the Lafayette String Quartet. She has also studied under Jan Coleman, Sarah Pizzichemi, & the Skyros Quartet, participated in masterclasses with Rachel Barton Pine, Gwen Thompson, Marc Destrubé, & Chloé Trevor, and received coaching from Gerald Stanick. During her degree, she served on the UVic Music Student Association for two years, acting as a student-faculty liaison & advocating for student rights.
A Suzuki student from early childhood, Dana pursued Suzuki teacher training after completing her Bachelor’s. She learned from Alice Ann O’Neill, Amanda Schubert, and Jenna Potts, and is currently certified through Unit 4.
In addition to her conventional classical training, Dana has also trained in Baroque period performance. She has had lessons with Chloe Meyers, Joanna Hood, and Elyssa Lefurgey-Smith, and received training through the Baroque Orchestra Mentorship Program. She has performed in Baroque orchestras under directors such as David Greenberg, Marco Vitale, and Dr. Kevin Zakresky.

Dana regularly performs at weddings, proposals, and other events, and she also maintains a popular TikTok account where she discusses accessibility in classical music. In her free time she enjoys hand embroidery, cooking, and playing with her band, The Misguided.
Additional Booking Notes
- I prefer to play without additional amplification, although if you believe your event would require that I can provide my own microphone + amp, or I can work with your venue if they have a pre-existing sound system.
- I am unable to play in precipitation of any kind due to the porous wood of my instrument, so it is always wise for the client to have a backup plan in case of rain. (If it is mild rain, even a large porch umbrella will do.)
- Additionally, due to the nature of my instrument I am unable to play in extreme cold or extreme heat. If your event will be outdoors in the heat, I will require a chair in the shade to play in, and possibly a small fan or other additional considerations. If it is outdoors in the cold, I may require a small space heather, or other additional considerations.
- I do not play with any sort of backing track.
If you have any questions about any of the above, please feel free to ask me. Thank you for your understanding and respect for the nature of my instrument!
